SEO Link building simply refers to an issue known as relevancy. When ranking sites in search engine results, Google tends to list the site that is the most relevant. As far as the website you are linked with and the content on that page. There are a lot of factors that go into determining relevancy, but the number of other sites linking to yours is one of them. This is why a site like the one for the IRS is high in search results for tax issues even though it does not trade links per sec.

You want only inbound links from other sites that are relevant to the subject of your site. If you have a plumbing site, you want links from other plumbing or home improvement sites. Despite all the junk email you receive, links from casino and pharmacy sites are not going to help the rankings for your plumbing site. They will hurt the rankings because they are not relevant.

For Example, I have a SEO website called www.seomy.net and if i go to another seo website such as www.yepee.com and ask them to link my Website into their website with some relevant content and Google will see a Network here of similar niche or topic and they will value us depending on both sites.

When building links to your site, Google favors a slow, steady increase in links. If you want top rankings on Google, you should follow this mantra with one exception. If you have a new site, you need not be a slave to this approach.

As you probably know, new sites are not ranked by Google. Instead, your site will sit for six months or so in the much discussed Google sandbox. Given this fact, you really don’t need to worry about Google for the same period of time when it comes to your links. Google isn’t going to rank you anyway, so picking up the pace isn’t really a problem.

With a brand new site, I prefer to create as many legitimate, relevant links as possible as soon as possible. The reason is I find it beneficial to start aging the links as soon as possible. Links to your site tend to grow in value the longer they exist on another site. From my point of view, why not maximize the number as quickly as possible? It isn’t like it is going to hurt your rankings on Google. You aren’t going to have any!

In taking this approach, I am not suggesting that you purchase links, use link farms or so on. I am just suggesting that you maximize your link trading efforts immediately to build up as many links as possible and get the aging process rolling. As you approach month four in the sandbox, you can start scaling back your efforts to a more slow and steady approach. Its worked for me.

Also, quote your Title and Description that you want to get displayed in your link partner’s link-page. Giving html source is always a better option so that the link-partner will directly copy and paste it.
If you don’t receive a reply to your email-proposal, try again after 3 days. Keep trying till three tries for your link-partner to know that you are not a spam bot but you are serious in your intention of emailing the proposal. If you don’t get any reply after three tries, take-off the link and acknowledge about it to the proposed link-partner.
Also, it is important to check that your link-partners carry weight. You may check the Page rank of your link-partner’s website - home page and Link-page by downloading the Google toolbar in your browser. Also, it is better if they carry a good ranking in the search engines for the key-phrases they link exchange for. This would give you quality link-partners thus giving you a quality link-exchange.


Few more tasks are submitting Press Release and Article into their relevant directories. Write a good Press-note that announces of some good accomplishment of your services and market your services through submitting your Press-Release into quality Press-Release Directories.
Same way is for the article. Write an educational essay on subject that describes your product/ services in your industry. And then submit it into relevant high page-rank directories for getting quality links from Content-rich web pages.


Like Press Release Submission and Article Submission, you may also submit your website into a Quality Online Directory. Get your website URL added to the Quality Directories to get rich link-backs for your website. Take care of submitting your website into relevant category. What is Link Building and The Quality Link Building

Everyone may have a different understanding of what “quality” is on terms of links, but essentially that is your decision entirely. Is the page linking to you indexed in Google and is the cache version fresh?
Why is this essential? Google has a cached page of any indexed page on their index. So basically, this should be your starting point for any link partnership decision. You need to verify that the page the link partner is proposing for exchange, is actually indexed and that the cached version is of the page is fresh in their records, within 20 days old as a benchmark. This will show that the page in question gets crawled often. PageRank of the page is secondary, and comes normally afterwards in comparison to this primary check.

Is the page linking to you on topic? Is this a themed link?
There is a big difference between the types of links you can get. These type of link are very targeted and carry a lot more weight over generic or unrelated links. This is part of what explains why some sites with much less links that their direct competitors are able to outrank them for particular terms. Quality links from themed sources is the short answer. Focusing on just "popularity" and inadvertently ignoring "reputation" is a mistake a lot of online marketers make. Keep this in mind.

Is the Title tag of the page linking to you on-topic? What about the text?
The title tag of the page linking to you is of great importance. When that is combined with text that is on topic with the page which is being link from, and other factors, the link value is increased greatly for the link. So as you can understand from this, is all about the co-relation of these factors that makes one link better than another.

Where is your link on the page located? Navigation, gutter, footer, body?
Location of your link is another strong factor to consider. The most beneficial location is considered to be within the body area of content. Any repetitive areas like navigation, gutter, footer, etc would normally not carry as much weight as the main body area. “Run-of-site” links fall into this group. There is a preference for the first paragraph, but the middle or bottom within the body content are good areas as well.

How many other links are on the page? Home Page vs. Link Page PR gap?
PageRank gets automatically diluted in relation to the amount of links on the page.
Google guidelines currently suggest a maximum of 100 links per page. So here you
want to make sure the number is as small as possible. I recommend targeting 20 links per page maximum on average to have room to allow those pages link growth. Also, what is the difference between the main page PR and the subpage were you are getting the link from? In the best cases, your link will be one point under the home page value. If it isn’t, you can consider other options with your link partner.

Understanding indexing of Google

This article will guide you through the main reasons why pages get listed on this index, and most importantly, how to get them out. If you have an existing site, there is a high probability that you may have pages in the supplemental index, so use this as a reference, and make sure you follow the steps outlined here.

First of all, for those of you new to this topic.
What is the Supplemental Index? Here is the short answer… Google has actually 2 indexes, on call the “Main Index” and a secondary one known as “Supplemental”. One way to verify that you are looking at a supplemental result is that you can see “Supplemental Result” in green text on the bottom line of any given Google listing.Learn More about keyword Research

Why do pages move from main to supplemental?
There are many obvious, and some not too obvious reasons for this, but Duplicate Content and Non-Updated are the two main ones. A “too dynamic” url, in other words, with too many variables, or a page that is to deep in the site’s structure also accounts for this. A word of advice on linking: If you are doing excessive reciprocal links, link buying/selling or linking to spammy neighborhoods… stop! Google algorithms has very low trust in the inbound and outbound links of those sites.

Solutions to get out of the supplemental index.
Now that you know what this index is and why you don’t your pages in it, I will go over ways you can get them out, and back to were they belong, the main index. I will group them in pairs as they are co-related:
1. Duplicate Content and Content Quality. All your meta tags should be unique. All pages have common elements like navigation, footer, etc. Make sure your page have enough unique content to offset these elements, and that you are providing quality with as well.

2. Dynamic URLs and Site Structure. Keep all URLs as “static” as possible. Why passing 3-4 variables if there is a simpler way? And every page should be 2-3 clicks away from the home page, as far as the site structure. Please refer to Google Best SEO Practices – Part 4.

3. Your Internal Linking and Profile. Your sitemap, which is very important component of your internal linking, should include links to all the pages on your site, and it should be linked (normally in the footer) from every page. And your site’s overall link profile directly impacts the level of trust Google gives it, and since this affects the PageTrust, less trust often translates into more supplemental pages.

The cost effectiveness is easily determined when you look at the potential of an SEO campaign compared to the method that many consider to be the next best thing – PPC. A PPC campaign will usually cost you anywhere upward of 5 cents per visitor generated. This means that for every thousand visitors you receive you will have paid $50. Some fairly basic SEO work on a web site containing ten pages will generate this kind of traffic on a monthly basis relatively quickly.

$50 doesn’t sound much but consider that you pay this in one month to receive the desired one thousand visitors. Over the space of a year you will have paid $600, and so on. Now consider that you are competing for a relatively competitive keyword and you find that you need to be paying a minimum of 50 cents per click to generate just the one thousand clicks in a month. All of a sudden you’re paying $6000 per year and you are still only getting one thousand clicks every month. $6000 will buy you an awful lot of SEO work and you should find that within a few months you are generating a lot more traffic using SEO.

Targeted Leads

Targeted leads are the best type of leads you can generate. It means that the visitors to your site are already predisposed to the basic topic of your site and are interested in what you have to say. It means that they will be more likely to purchase goods or services from your site, click on affiliate links or click Google ads to earn you revenue. Because SEO leads are physically searching for the topic that your site relates to you are guaranteed that they are interested in whatever you’re offering. First of all they search using keywords relevant to your site. They then read the description and name of your site and this further compounds their interest in the page in question and click on the link. Already they have become highly susceptible to the message of your web page.

So Remember…

SEO is a webmaster’s greatest tool but treated badly it can quickly blow up in your face. By ensuring you stick to the very letter of the law and do not use any underhand methods you should soon benefit from powerful leads that will frequent your site and earn you revenue.

How to strongly improve your Search Engine Rankings...

You know all that extra time you have to work on Search Engine Optimization? [A little sarcasm there] Actually, I tried to put together a list of quick things you can do that will help you move a little higher in your Google or Yahoo results.

1. Get listed in more search engines. There are tons of them out there. There are also many free services that will help you get listed. Or just set aside some time to get it done yourself. Here is a free search engine submission site that will let you cycle through the top 100 search engines and get your site submitted.

2. Get listed in more directories. Again, there are a lot of them out there. Look for higher pagerank directories. Improvingrank.com has some listed by pagerank. Look on the left side of the homepage.

3. Clean up your html and check your links. You want the bots to have smooth sailing through your site. Use the tools on W3c.org and have a real person check them over too.

4. Get a few more links to your site. Make them relevant and at least the same pagerank as you.

5. Make your page filenames descriptive and keyword rich. Naming your page new_page_1.html is wasting an opportunity to do some SEO. Use names that describe the content and keep the keywords flowing.

6. Check your Title tags. You can use 90 - 100 characters in the title, so add some keywords. We know Google looks at them, and so do many more search engines.

7. Check your ALT tags. Searchbots can’t see pictures. Make sure you have ALT tags on all of your pictures, and make sure they are descriptive and keyword rich.

8. Rewrite your URL (anchor) tags. Good anchor tags (the text between the http: and /a tags) reinforce the message and key words of your site.

9. Go post in a few forums and put your website in your signature. Forums are a great place to put one way links. And you can help somebody out at the same time.

10. Put together a text based sitemap and put it on your site. There’s a lot of navigation that spiders can’t understand, such as flash, forms, java and javascript. Putting together a text-based sitemap gives the bots a way to navigate around the site. Google Webmaster is the best tool i recommed everyone using this

Fifteen minutes every couple of days will make a huge difference in getting your rank higher.

SEO way as Google gets fatter but are you?

What Google did for Christmas? In short: Twain news on the same day simply melting the ice. Vacuum discovered.

Their new services spur others in turn, their sympathies can affect some huge increase. Finally, wealth is spreading, from young billionaires to you and to a baby boomer like me. A few days ago, I ran into an article about them that claims they build a safe net for themselves, and all of us to use. How does one figure? Google silently buy left-over fiber optics at the lowest prices. Something nice for the future…

Yesterday, I went to Mozilla Firefox to get a referral button for my upcoming ezine. Have been using Firefox after a 2-week spy and worm attack back in June. At that time, my desktop had been invisible from pop-up windows and the volume muted for virus alert sirens and my poor computer could not breathe using IE.... Then I ran into Kaspersky, but that luck only lasted for 30 days as well; they wanted $70... Since free Firefox NOTHING not one single intruder. I have peace. IE now sits and ruts…, while the FF plug-ins make beautiful music.

So, I go get the button, and what do I read? They, Google, now not only have a referral system for adsense with neat little buttons, but they will take Firefox under their wings with something like ‘Google recommends Firefox’. I am touched! It’s the best thing to happen for us, for these guys operate in a speed that suits me, compared with MS. They’re livin’.

But, listen to this, on the SAME DAY, yes, yesterday, I get this article from Jim Edwards of http://simurl.com/wonderwords named "Google's Next Step: Are Print Mail Order Catalogs Dead?”

He describes how any respectable US print catalog is being listed and the graphics of each page shown in their catalog database for free, and permanently. Google even update it manually. My favorite feature is that your objects on scanned print pages will be linked to their twins on your site.

I’d call that traffic. Yep, the top quality traffic is free. Been saying that.

So, last night, I stayed up, had to anyway, because I was on a watch. Uploading my large files to
http://simurl.com/showcase, when ms automatic XP update suddenly wanted to restart the computer. Took me a while to find the way to switch that off.

Don’t you envy the life of those, who spend their days in a dialogue with heartwarming Microsoft-warez. Have we created a monster buying Bill’s stuff? My day swishes by enduring Frontpage crashes and Word peculiarities I may never get used to, and yet I somehow am.

No, that’s not the reason why I wrote this. What I wanted to say is:

 Is fear of the mysterious "Sandbox" a way to prod SEOs into optimizing websites the way Google sees fit?  A closer look at some this curious phenomenon.


A few weeks ago, I presented myself with a challenge – to do some Internet sleuthing and get to the bottom of this perplexing condition that newly search engine optimized websites (that’s SEO) face known as the Google Sandbox.  At times this endeavor made me empathize with Captain Ahab chasing his white whale, but unlike Ahab, I’m not going to meet a watery grave today. SEOMyNet provides SEOs with life jackets – so I got that going for me, which is good.  The obsession to confirm, pin down, and counteract the effects of this Sandbox is proving as difficult and elusive as any whale hunt I’ve ever been on. 

Before explaining to the uninitiated just what the Sandbox is exactly, or what it’s purported to be, it warrants mentioning that Google officially neither confirms nor denies its existence.  So from the word “go” we wade into mystery.  We’re forced to consider the Sandbox as either a modern quasi-myth of the Computer Age or an actual no man’s land created by Google where SEOs are pitted against the machine.  Kinda cool, right?  This would be a limbo, an undesired waiting room for web properties seeking quality recognition from Google’s Search Engine Results Pages are, as I like to say, unSERPable.  Incidentally, the stakes are very high, too, since higher rankings mean increased revenue.    

The effects of the Sandbox are not in question.  Websites listing with Google are simply beat down in their rankings for no apparent rhyme or reason, thus leaving the afflicted with no avenue of redress but time itself – no magic linking is known to spring sites out.  (Though it’s whispered that influential friends at Google can pull favors.)  New websites and overhauled existing websites (often reworked, ostensibly, for better rankings) are its primary “victims”.  It was first noticed or acknowledged in October, 2004.  No one outside of Google knows exactly how or why sites are Sandboxed. 

Here are some Sandbox basics: it only happens to English speaking websites; it is a “.com”-only phenomenon, no “.edu”s, “.us”s, or “.org”s need worry; it could last from weeks to a year before release into deserving results rankings; its effects are seen with Google only, so you can rank high on Yahoo and be in the Sandbox (or even rank poorly – I have little info handy on poorly optimized websites mired in suspected Sandboxes); the Sandbox is by no means universal and not automatic.  It’s a crapshoot.

There is a minority of SEOs who think that the Sandbox is the end result of better algorithms and not and specially created punishment.  Believing, as I do, that Google has the best search results, this isn’t implausible.

I believe Google intentionally Sandboxes websites because they can.  Google’s search share is largely unrivalled and growing strongly.  What better way for Google to keep separating itself from the search engine pack than to have websites jumping through hoops in hopes to conform to Google’s semi-secretive algorithmic wishes.  And what better way to do this than through the secret sauce of unacknowledged spider block.  Google’s engineers keep the search world apprehensive and guessing so that SEOs will employ conventional and anticipated optimization methods in hopes to evade the Sandbox. 

Talk about your Jedi mind tricks: SEOs are now optimizing in a fashion that suits Google with much less link bombing and more content emphasis.  This aids Google’s indexing efforts greatly.  The Sandbox, being a phenomenon oft-alluded to and ill-explained, is totally logical when viewed in this light.  Fearing the unknown (and the ire of clients) we optimize humbly, to start.   

And I love this.  “No one knows” is what most SEOs will say about various Sandbox details.  Someone knows.  Someone besides in-the-know Google engineers always knows, but isn’t saying.  SEOs will have you believe they’re giving away everything but their gym locker combination; to the point where you’d think that there are no secrets in this business.  Well, as in any other business, information is the most valuable commodity and there will be nothing that you will get for free; nothing of a proprietary nature will be shared that will not provide its source with either direct or back-end value. 

It’s tough to declare this, but I must: no SEO has enough data or access to solve the Sandbox.  It’s not even worth trying and the best thing we can do is compare notes.  Pretty sad, but it’s all we got.  (Or is it?) 

It is widely believed that Matt Cutts, an engineering guru at Google, acknowledged the existence of the Sandbox at SES NYC in March, 2005.  That’s bunk.  He didn’t acknowledge anything, but he did answer his questions carefully supposing there was a Sandbox.  He played with words and said some algorithms “might” affect “certain” websites in “some” circumstances that would, in effect, ape Sandbox-like results.  Well, gee. Again, do not stuff keywords here... they should only be those that are actually on the page and do not repeat any word more than 3 times.


4. Heading Tags


The heading tags are given more weight than the ordinary text. The higher the H tag the more weight it carries. You should make use of the heading tags to highlight the important keywords and headings of your page as well as the paragraph headers.


5. Bold Text


Bold text is given a little more weight than ordinary text but not as much as heading tags. Make sure to enclose some of your keywords in bold tags when they appear on the page.


6. Alt Text


The alt tag provides alternative text when images cannot be displayed... This might happen if the users have set the browsers only to download the text and not the graphics, or if the images are too heavy to download for the user’s internet connection. Only include important keywords relevant to your site and the image and do not stuff keywords in them.
